A large part of Amit’s success can be attributed to his family, with their unconditional support.
Back in 2006 his brother Anurag and Amit left their jobs, came back to Jaipur, and shortly after, their entrepreneurial journey started in our small home garage that they turned into a makeshift office, incorporated GirnarSoft, a software outsourcing company with a big dream to build a billion-dollar company.
After working on GirnarSoft for a year, Amit and Anurag visited the 2008 Auto Expo in New Delhi and came back with the concept for our new venture, CarDekho. Their goal was to leverage technology and provide the best-in-class car buying or selling experience to the users. They set up a portal where people could come to find the right information and review cars before deciding on buying. As they say, the road to success is not straight, they also faced many hiccups along the way to building CarDekho. But they persevered and bootstrapped for 7 long years, made CarDekho profitable, eventually secured Series-A funding of $15 Million in 2013, and grew to what we are today, a unicorn with a valuation of $ 1.2 billion.
